Auntie’s Quilts
Hi there & welcome. my new EP called “Auntie’s Quilts” is now officially out via Kicker Records & available on all streaming platforms.
Maybe you’re wondering about the story behind it. This gallery documents my aunt’s passion for Quilting and the making of Patchworks, thus creating new patterns from small pieces of fabric. We’ve recently re-discovered hundreds of photo slides from the 1980’s and ‘90’s, Some of which were taken at fairs / conventions for which my aunt would travel around the globe, connect with the quilting community, compare notes, and make friends for life...

Listen to the music
…In many ways, the way my aunt felt about quilting is analog to how I feel about music. The way I make beats by using samples from all kinds of resources - sampling records & tapes, find inspiration from YouTube videos, making field recordings or record live instruments to create new patterns from small bits and piece of sound is the most obvious comparison to me.
it goes far beyond the craft, though. I love when I have company in my studio with fellow musicians, or get the chance to discover new artists and meet people through our shared love of music. Just like my aunt would connect with others to talk “Quilts”.
Hence, “Auntie’s Quilts” is a homage to my aunt. and her creativity. and her passion. Thank you, Gisele.
A Very Special S/O to my collaborators
Salomon Appiah, Lennart Pieper, Jökull Logi, Daniel Lewy, Max Ketterer, Martin Pohle, and Kicker Records
Disclaimer: Not all of these quilts & patchworks were made by my aunt. As a matter of fact, it looks like many of these pieces were made in collaborative efforts.
